Basic Obedience and
Puppy Preschool Classes

Oceana Veterinary Clinic and White Lake Animal Clinic offer basic obedience classes and preschool training for puppies.  The classes are taught by our licensed veterinary technician, Jessica.  Jessica has several years of experience with training and preschool classes and obtained her CDT-KA certification in 2020.

The basic obedience class focuses on training puppies over 4 months of age and adult dogs in the basic commands such as heel, sit, stay, come, down, and leave it.  Classes also help the dogs learn impulse control and helps teach owners how to better communicate with their dogs.  Training is encouraged through positive reinforcement.

Puppy preschool is geared towards puppies under 4 months of age.  The goal of this class is to help puppies experience new things in a positive way.  They are introduced to other puppies, people, loud noises, vacuums, nail trims, handling by multiple people, teeth brushing, etc.  The more puppies experience things in a positive setting, the more likely they are to be well adjusted adults!  Because puppy preschool is offered at the veterinary office, we find that most of these puppies LOVE to come to their veterinary medical appointments.
